Since the competition ended two days ago, I figure it's safe to upload it now. [edit: Dang it, they extended the date until August. Haha, maybe I'll do another design if I have time then...]

[edit2: Didn't win. A little disappointed; I thought it was up there or better than some of the designs that did win. But hey, that's competitions for you. I'm sure they had a reason for choosing the winners they did.]

I was perusing the Manifest [link] website and saw that they were running some competitions, so I thought I'd try my hand at the t-shirt competition. The brief was to design a t-shirt that "must be identifiable as a t-shirt for Manifest 2006, although how you do this is up to you", so I had this idea in my head and ran with it. Since ideas usually become screwed up somewhere along the process line, I was quite pleased that it actually turned out pretty much as I imagined. I used the simpler style from my University projects; I think it suits it better this way.

I'm aware that her foot is a little off. I wasn't paying too much attention to it and only noticed when someone else pointed it out... I used some ref for the legs, but it's otherwise built up from a skeleton sketch in Photoshop CS. Colours are based off the Manifest mascot, although this character isn't specifically meant to be her.

Text formed in Illustrator. Background was done by pen-tooling over some sketches and photos of various stuff (Open comic-book was done from a photo of my One Piece volumes, haha...)

Thanks X3. I wanted to do flat colouring do it would be nice and bold~ I think it turned out well in the end.

I'm going to be slaving away at Uni assignments over the weekend. The holiday screws me over because it means I have to get any metalworking/soldering done by Friday, and any printing by Sunday D: (Nothing will be open on Monday, and Uni workshops are closed over the weekend). I hand in my last assignments on Tuesday. Then I'm freeeeeeee~
