The World of the Court

Medium: Sketched in pencil, inked with a sepia pen, and coloured in photoshop. I was going to do these all on the computer, but fucked if my computer sketching skills went all retarded somehow. So much easier and faster to do it traditionally.

Hey guys. Long time no draw.

This was a project for my Costume and Fashion Design elective where we had to create a concept behind costume designs for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream.

Me being me with my love for Art Deco, it isn't hard to guess what my inspiration was.

We had to choose a total of 8 character from the World of the Court and the World of the Forest. I enjoyed my first sketches for Helena a lot, but my favourite of this bunch is actually Hippolyta. Her drawing and design just turned out so lovely, in my opinion, and exudes that classical 1920's form.

For some reason my least favourite is Demetrius. Something about his face makes me want to hit him (sorry man...)

Constructive crit only discouraged because: I finished all 8 illustrations over the span of two nights and I'm fully aware there's some shit wrong with them. As an assignment I've already handed in I have no huge urge to go back and fix them.
